Christmas session. I had taken Gracie's pictures at the studio I work at prior to this, but we had a lot of fun shooting in my personal studio. It also gave me an opportunity to play more with my digital backdrops. :)

Elisha & Jonathan - 11/10/10
Christmas photos I shot mostly on a green screen and used digital backgrounds. I also got a new portrait enhancing program that I got to play with for the first time. :)

Portrait Parties
I've had a great response to my green screen photos so far:
I'm starting up "Optimistic Portrait Parties" (the name is tenative) to have some fun with my new digital background setup and create some beautiful art for my customers!
I will bring my studio setup to the home of the host/hostess and set it up in the living room, dining room, wherever! The party guests each bring $35 and then if the host can guarantee at least 5 guests, their fee is free. Guests can bring their kids, their family, or just themselves. I do a 10-15 minute session for each guest. Then the party goers can mingle while I put together some art prints from the photos I took. (About a half an hour to an hour depending on the amount of guests.)
I bring the guests one by one to view their art pieces (I can do solid backgrounds, too, if an art piece is not what the guest is looking for, of course.) and choose their favorite(s). In a couple weeks' time they'll receive an 8x10, 2 - 5x7's, and 8 wallets of their favorite art. Additional sheets would be available for purchase for an additional and reasonable price at the party. The host can recieve gifts, free products, and reduced prices!
The break down:
These are a LOT of fun! I can't wait to hear from you!

Norton Wedding Preview - 9/21/10
Theresa and Ben's wedding.
Been editing for hours. When I was sorting through them I kept tearing up. I was trying hard to concentrate when I was taking pictures so I detached myself (until they were announced Mr. and Mrs. Norton - then I lost it!) I was truly honored to be capturing the memories of their special day.
Here's a preview of some of my favorites... (at least the ones I've finished so far.)
I made good progress today. I think I'll turn in for the evening and continue my endevors at a later time.

Marketing Sessions
My Jury Duty was cancelled today (yay!) so I decided to set up my studio equipment at home and take 5 month pictures for my son. (It's what I purchased it for in the first place...)
I also opened it up to my Facebook friends for free sessions so long as I could use the photos for marketing. I only had one bite, but we got some cute photos. :)
If my duty gets cancelled next week I plan to do the same thing... hopefully I'll get a better response. :)

Markie McBaker - Senior Portraits
It's been awhile since I've done urban-esque portraits - but it was definetly the perfect setting for Markie. I really think it represented her well: fun and unexpected. I loved the socks with sandals (very western Washington) and her red scarf was a very nice touch.
She convinced me to put an ad in the PAHS paper: the "Timberline." I'm hashing out a special deal for the "Timberline" readers with the new look I'm working on... which means I can't dottle on the new website anymore. I suppose now is as good of a time as any. ;)

Work Vs. Play
I went to Seattle to attend my cousin's wedding today. It was the first time in a long time I'd been to a wedding just to attend. It was nice to just go and enjoy myself. It was also nice to watch another professional at work. They definetly hired a competant professional (which was nice to see.) It irks me to no end when I attend a wedding where they haven't hired on a photographer that does a complete job. I find it harder not to step on toes in that instance.
Not only was he great at taking moments and the posed shots - but he was also a very gracious photographer. I stole my cousin (the bride) away for a moment to take a photo or two of her and he wandered over, took a couple himself, and then asked to see what I had shot, commenting positively. (I don't think he realized I actually knew what I was doing...) He also waved me over to take a few photos from better view points after he was finished. I was doing my best to not get in his way.
Unfortunately, I did only attend the reception because I got incredibly lost on my way to the ceremony itself.

I did, however, get some neat shots that I threw into album pages just for the heck of it...
I had a great time overall - even though I got lost AGAIN trying to get out of Seattle. I know I love that city, but my GPS understands the streets (I think) worse than I do.
